I want to share with you the project I’ve been working on for a bit now. It stemmed from a heartbreak that painfully lingered a couple years ago. I was angry, wanted revenge but didn’t want to create more pain for myself or them. My mother suggested I write a letter. Not to send to them but to get every feeling I wish I could say out without any repercussions. I wrote my letter then I made a painting. It was angry, honest, funny & sad.

When I shared this process with others they started sending me their letters to illustrate. It became a project to allow friends to heal without needing to speak with their ex - and more than anything just be honest with ourselves !! (Not just romanticizing our situations).

I put all the letters and drawings in a book & showed them at a group show - not thinking anyone would pay much attention. That day people sat and wrote their own letters until the show closed. I started collecting letters ever since & have loved hearing that it’s helped people move through their heartbreaks.

Heartbreak is one of the most painful experiences. It shows itself in extreme physical emotional distress and even physical pain. We begin grieving, oftentimes, a person who is still alive and the longing for the lost dream with our partner & future selves. I hope that through this book those involved feel a release. To find we aren’t so alone in these feelings and find community in reading others stories.

I would love to have your words submitted if you feel connected to the project. Selected letters will be collected and illustrated. This will culminate in the release of a book entitled Letters to my Exes. Examples are on the site and all your words will stay completely anonymous. You can interpret your letter/confession or even the definition of an ex in any way you seem fit. submit as many as you like :)

xx sending you love,
